In this webinar, our team compares traffic calming impacts of recently laid speed bumps in a Jacksonville, Florida neighborhood, measuring their effectiveness with analysis from August 2022 and August 2023.

A little background on the roadway being studied:

In 2021, a 14-year-old boy riding an electric scooter was tragically struck and killed by a car while crossing a road in his neighborhood.

After several years of working with community officials, members of the neighborhood were finally able to have a total of nine speed bumps installed throughout the neighborhood.

In our analysis, we measure the speeds before and after the implementation to determine how they've affected speeds on the road. We also look at tangential roads to determine if there were any residual impacts from the traffic calming efforts.
