Urban SDK Partners with Littleton

Urban SDK, a leader in smart city technology, is pleased to announce that the city of Littleton, Colorado, has chosen Urban SDK's innovative solutions for speed data analytics and roadway volume insights.

This strategic partnership underscores Littleton's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance transportation management and safety within the region.

Urban SDK will slot in to Littleton's advanced traffic calming program. The city had 60-70 signalized intersections and 20-25 video sections, which help officials make data-driven decisions whenever possible. By providing speed data and roadway volumes, Littleton officials will now have more data to ensure that safety concerns of all citizens are addressed.

The city currently has a five-step traffic calming process of: citizen input, information gathering, pop-up solution, pilot projects, and construction. As part of the information gathering, officials will typically lay down hard-count tubes for around 48-hours. Urban SDK will enable more robust gathering of data, most especially when snowy roadways could not previously be counted.

Further, Urban SDK's traffic calming software will enable officials to quickly determine if areas of concern fall within the city's traffic calming criteria, which will then determine whether a pop-up solution or pilot project can be implemented.

"Littleton is already extremely sophisticated when it comes to traffic calming," says Urban SDK's Ross Loehr. "So it was very quickly apparent how we could be good partners. The team [in Littleton] values having good, clean, accurate data to base all their decisions off of. Urban SDK's platform will further arm them with information needed to keep the roadways safe year-round."

Littleton joins a growing number of customers in Colorado, joining the city of Brighton and Larimer County. Urban SDK was also named a winner of the Colorado Smart Cities Challenge in 2022.
